After Inmar bought a.ki, the combined company had two sets of separately built retail-media platforms that looked and worked very differently. Inmar wanted one full-cycle ecosystem across every ad channel — which was impossible while each product used its own visual and interaction language, and rebuilding all of them at once was not realistic.
A single design system — first a Figma library of colors, components, page templates and interaction patterns, then a coded library on React Mantine — supporting a step-by-step path toward one ecosystem.
Teams gained one shared visual language and component base, which improved their speed and productivity and let the business spend less on building and maintaining UI — turning a set of disconnected products into something that could become one.
A.ki was a large ad agency that developed retail-marketing platforms for its own needs. After Inmar acquired it, they sought to unify their platforms into a cohesive ecosystem for all advertising types (social, digital, in-store, print etc). The integration was split into three phases, with a common design system connecting the first two.
Phase 0
Phase 1: Lipstick
Phase 2: Shared frontend
Phase 3: Unified platform

Analyzed the existing visual language across 5 major client-facing platforms.
Identified similarities and discrepancies, created an alpha styleguide (Figma library).
Documented the basic interaction and layout patterns.
Migrated the two flagship platforms' mockups onto the library first, then the rest — with 2 junior designers on production work.
Initiated cosmetic changes on each platform's frontend.
Turned the Figma components and patterns into the source spec for a coded design system.
Worked with 2 front-end engineers building the library on React Mantine.
Guided each platform team as they migrated their UI onto the shared system. Reviewed other Inmar designers' requests and evolved the design system.
Converted several features into cross-platform modules (product picker, audience selector, approval wizard).
SSO and platform switch were added for smoother navigation.
Redesigned the multi-tenant structure to mirror who actually works with whom (brands - manufacturers, retailers - CPGs), enabling analytics and asset management at every level.
Developed the concept for merging the client-facing platforms into one product, with service tools kept separate.
Drove it as the design system's lead — until I left the company before it shipped.
